Hi all, firstly let me say I searched for this issue but even though I know it must already exist in some form, I wasn't able to find it, so here goes.

Can anyone please provide some basic instructions for copying optical media?

1) Is this something a MBP (2012) with optical drive and MBA (2014) with external drive should be able to do straight out of the box?
2) If so, what's the utility called?

I guess once I know that it will be easy enough to work it out from there.

This was all prompted yesterday when my wife asked me to copy an audio cd she needed for her classroom and I had no idea how to do it. On Windows it's a no brainer for me, I can think of 2-3 ways but I found I was totally stumped.

Just copying audio? Use iTunes.

Disk Utility - may not be a one-step process (it's ages since I copied a disc).

Honestly, though, the better answer is to rip to digital files and then use them in any number of ways.

Typically you can use disk utility to first create an image of the disk, them burn the image.
