I want to be able to transfer huge amounts of video files to my mac from my windows pc, I tried linking the two computers together with a cross over and set the windows ip to 192.X.X.X blah blah blah...only I dont know how to actually transfer the files over.

Can anyone help me with this? Is what Im doing right? Is there any certain program I should be using?

It's fairly easy to share folders etc. with OS X and Windows XP.

The simplest way I've found it.

- Make sure you share a drive or hard disk under XP
- Turn off Windows Firewall for your network connection
- Plug in crossover cable, leave machines for a couple minutes to work out IP addresses etc.
- On your Mac, press :cmd: + K and type in smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx being your IP address)
- Type in login details (if no password set, just click OK)
- Windows drive shared on Mac!

You can also turn on Windows File Sharing under the Sharing system preference and share a Mac drive, then access this on your PC.
