Hey, i have an aluminum powerbook g4, and wanted to know if i could put a SSD in it. If so, how does it effect the system performance?

Hi John,

you can install a 2.5" IDE SSD in a PowerBook - see Other World Computing for these. The question is why - it's not worth spending this much on a < $100 laptop, while it will be noticably faster the performance gains will not be as great as putting a newer 2.5" SATA SSD in a new machine - that's where they are most useful.

Agreed. Also, IDE SSDs are fairly pricy too, particularly compared to SATA SSDs.

Hi Sam - rocking a complete MBP thank to you BTW :)

I think, as a rule, when you need to spend more on the computer itself to "upgrade it", don't - save for a new one.
