So this morning i booted up mr maccy, and to my dissapointment, it got past the white logo screen to the blue, and then hung. I then booted off my 10.4 DVD and opened the disk utility, ran a verify disk command, and it got an error and told me to run the repair, so i did but it failed also.

Does this mean i have a dead hard disk? if so, how feasable is it to get my data off it? there is nothing too important on it, but it'd be nice to keep my address book etc...

Jim

ok, weirdest problem ever, i booted from my housemates machine in firewire target mode. I can access all of my hard disk, and i have copied everything off it to his drive. Its making weird squeaking noises and junk. I guess i should just toss it out and get anew one, where can i get a fairly cheap one of about 250g in canberra on a sunday?
