View Full Version : Macbook Pro goes into deep sleep.

Hi All,
My 2012 Classic Macbook pro 13 inch has what I consider an issue.
Ever since I got it, it has gone into deep sleep when it runs out of battery. When I plug it back in it does this : http://www.markwheadon.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/02a_1492-scaled-final.png (But it loads back to what I had)

My old Macbook white would just wake up from sleep instantly when it ran out of power, and my iBook and Powerbook do the same. Is this normal? Because it is very annoying as it takes a while!

Thanks :)

This is normal. It's hibernation where the contents of RAM are written to the HDD to prevent work loss. The older machines didn't do this.
The more RAM you have the longer it takes as the HDD needs to transfer all the data back to RAM again.

There are some terminal commands which stop this.
I'd avoid it by not running out of battery.

Why didn't my old one do this?

My battery runs down fast and I like to fully use it each time to try and preserve the battery so I often end up with it running out.
