View Full Version : DVI or HDMI for external monitor?

Because of my display issues (see http://www.mactalk.com.au/24/113541-blue-squiggly-lines-pixels-dark-areas-external-monitor.html) I am going to go down the street and grab a new cable today just to see if the cable is the problem.

Before I do, what would be the better choice:
DVI to DVI
or
DVI to HDMI

both options would require an adapter - mini DVI to DVI (which I already have) or Mini DVI to HDMI

HDMI carries audio as well, but as for which one is the better choice, that's like asking whether you prefer apples or oranges.

There's no real difference if you're just using them to carry a video signal.

My experience is that DVI is more suitable (personal preference mostly). I guess it depends on the monitor and how it handles different signals
