Dear Fellow MacTalkersI'm using Mountain Lion and find that when I go to list view in the Finder that the last item in the window is not available for selection for 2-3 seconds after I open the window - there's a grey bar through the item. Any suggestions?

Please see image.

Looks like a horizontal scrollbar to me. Kinda annoying if you have the option inside of System Prefs that says never show scrollbars when scrolling...

Happens on my machine too, but I have to be fast to snap a photo...

Thanks bennyling. Your term 'horizontal scrollbar' [why didn't I think of that?] led me on a search and this seems to be a good solution

"I have this problem too. It seems just lazy programming by apple. I hope they fix it in a future patch. In the mean time the best solution I've found is to just set the scroll bar to always being visible. Then the last file is no longer blocked as it was in prior versions of OSX. To do this go to: Settings > General under Personal > Show scroll bars: always Apple, please fix this. At least make it so that the delay on the dissapearing scroll bar can be customized or at least instantaneous!"

Ah, good ol' internet folk.

I wouldn't say it's "lazy programming" per se, because the scrollbar is designed to appear over the content when you have it set to appear on scroll (exactly like it does on iOS).

Of course, the issue here is that it blocks content in your case for a lengthy period of time.

I thought that this was a Lion problem that was fixed in ML?
