View Full Version : Strange Icon in Network folder

Just connected the Laptop & G4 to update some files onto the G4. ( I use it as a second backup storage.) There is a Network Icon in the network window, along with the icon for the G4. The network icon is called UNKNOWN-123-0-0--yahoo.com. I never have used Yahoo and haven't seen that icon before. Is that anything to be concerned about?

Shall I just drag it to the trash and empty the trash or should I go looking for anything else? Does anyone know what it would be about? I'm the only person who uses the computers.

Would really appreciate some advice. Thanks, Jen

Update: Tried to drag icon to trash. Can't. Any advice out there please? Jen

Someone has reported this on mactalk before: http://www.mactalk.com.au/11/100663-strange-device-network.html
See if that's any help to you.

Thanks Alex. I read the thread and the conditions were similar, wireless b'band, Airport off, but it was not in the side panel under devices. I disconnected the b'band and it went away. Reconnected and it didn't come back. Hope it stays away. Thanks again, Jen
