Having just got a airport base station i was looking at airport cards, egad! i would have thought that the 802.11b cards would have dropped in price now that they are superseded, but a look on ebay ( $160 USED ) and at my local mac store ( $250+ (repair part )) has me wising that i'd gotten one a hell of a lot earilier, does anyone know where to get a few of these at a resonable price?

The Airport cards are going for ridiculus prices on eBay since Apple annouced they are to receive one final shipment from their supplier.
I've been tracking the prices on eBay as some cards have been selling for upto $180. This was a card still in it's packages, so in new condition.

My local Apple dealer said they had 24 on order but customer orders of over 40 units. The price remains unchanged at $169 (AUD).

If you have a PCI Mac you'd be better of with a 3rd party card that will use the native Apple airport extreme driver. See the pin post in this section. ;)

Sure, that would have been four weeks before they were discontinued and became expensive collectors items.

btw, I got one on eBay nice and cheap a few weeks ago due to the seller misspelling "Airport". give it try you might get lucky too, it's always a good way to find things people aren't bidding on.

Yeah, the prices have gone through the roof shame I had no cash when they were going for 80-90 AUD a couple of weeks ago. Buying internationally on eBay helps a bit, apple service centres can get them for 159 I believe.

Let us know if applebits have any, we could clear him out.

I actually almost bought an iBook on ebay for 300 with an airport card, could have resold the iBook for 250 at least, might be the way to get them from now on.
