I wonder if anyone can help. I have some Quicktime movie files that I wish to import into iMovie in order to join then together and export to iDVD. When I try to import the files into iMovie I get an unknown warning message telling iMovie is unable to import. I am missing somthing here? Do I need to convert the files or something? I'm not using QT Pro only have QT 7. Please advise....Thanks.

It should import. What is the origin of the QT movies?

I notice from the error message screenshot that the video format is NTSC. Try opening iMovie, open Preferences and changing the project frame rate to 25 fps. Quit iMovie, open a new project and try importing the QT files again.

My housemate downloaded them on a PC from some website. I think the file type is just unrecognisable. I've attached an image of the movie info in QT.

It's because of the Codec used. You would need to export from QT to DV. This is what iMovie would do anyway.
You do realise that the resolution of this video file upscaled to DV will look awful, right?

Original file, ie. source, uncompressed movie or dv file will be the best, but it is workable after it has been compressed. Just don't expect the best qauilty!

Would I need Quicktime Pro in order to export the file to DV?
