I think I have a problem with the videocard in my G5.
Does anyone know of any diagnostics programs I can run to maybe test it?
Or even of any benchmark utilities, or something to really stress the video card?

SPECViewperf can be compiled for OSX use without too much hassle.

If you want click-and-run, try grabbing a copy of Cinebench.

Both are standard OpenGL benchmarks.

Nah, the FX5200... It doesn't have a fan on it, just a heatsink.
I just played around 10 min of UT2003 under Panther and it seemed to go fine.
Im downloading Cinebench at the moment, so we'll see how that goes.

macOS is a bit light-on for dedicated benchmarking software. that may change soon with the large amount of games being ported to apple recently.

of course, many games offer their own benchmarking analysis tools. you can grab the ut2003 or quake3 demos and benchmark both of those. it's not difficult to set up a script that will run benchmarks continuously to really push your system.

with cinebench you can tell it to do just the OpenGL tests over and over for some torture testing.

I ran the UT2003 benchmark scipt for about 2 hours or so under 10.3, and it worked fine.
Ran Cinebench for about an hour too.

So I think the videocard is stable.
I managed to get my hands on the developer seed of 10.3.3, I'm just about to boot in to 10.3 now and install it ;)
