I have a new iPad2 - 16gig 3G.
Wireless network works at home perfectly however I cannot get 3G internet to work.

I have tried both Telstra and Optus SIMS.

Nothing works. Is it possible I have a faulty iPad or is it more likely to be an incorrect setting?

Thank you.

Have you set the appropriate APN for your provider in Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data?

I have telstra.iph

Is this correct?

I'm not sure for iPads, but I know for general mobile broadband devices it's telstra.internet.

May sound silly but have you activated the SIM?

Mine shows Telstra.iph for Telstra

Oddly enough today it started showing "3" instead of "Telstra" up the top... Any tips???

That's not odd. The Telstra/3 2100mhz 3G network is still operating under a partnership between Telstra and Vodafone Hutchison Australia. Any device which is 2100mhz 3G capable with a Telstra SIM may connect to this network.

As someone else said, did you activate the SIM?
