Hi, i started up my iMac today and in the login menu where the normal user accounts, but today there was an extra one. Its called "USERS". I dont know how it got there. I tryed typing in the other users name and password into it and it loged in.
Also, the "user" user is not in the Accounts menu in Preferences.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this "USER" user.
Thanks in advance.

I have an "Other..." in my login window that allows me to specify a specific username (either something like "root" or a user available from a server/network). I'm not sure why it would say "USER" unless maybe you're on a network with a Windows authenticating system as capitalised anything on a network is usually a sign of a Windows network being present.

PS: Moved this to Mac OS X and Apple Software.

The OS is just one a iMac G5. nothing else.
also, the "USER" doesnt show up in fast user switching either.

Ive fixed it now thanks to Currawong. him saying "root" trigered something in my memory that i had gone into NetInfo Manager when installing an App and enabled the "Root User."
Thanks Currawong
