View Full Version : Apple Store Hornsby Westfield (Nth West Syd)

Heard from my Regional Apple Sales Rep yesterday this giant hoarding (approx 30m long, and taking over 2-3 stores) is an upcoming Apple store.

Had a couple of people from other retailers come in today and confirm they heard the same thing through the rumour mill.

Draw your own conclusions!

Seems like a likely sort of place. Knowing the area, I would think it appropriate to have one there in addition to Chatswood and Castle Towers.

But for the love of Jobs, the same thing applies to Melbourne, so please Apple get your arse into gear down south please.

So let's see. That means Sydney has or will have, George St City, Bondi Junction, Chatswood Chase, Castle Towers, Penrith, Broadway and now Hornsby.

That's seven. Can't be too many cities outside of New York that has that many.

San Francisco/Bay Area has heaps :p

But yeah, outside of the SF Bay Area, Sydney prob has the most. No other metro area in the US has that sort of concentration of Apple retail stores

That's my local, and it seems kinda ridiculous having three so relatively close up here with Chatswood, and Castle Hill already "Apstored"

We'll have it if you don't want it!

Just found this: SEEK - Apple Retail Manager - Hornsby Job in Sydney (http://www.seek.com.au/Job/apple-retail-manager-hornsby/in/sydney/20000893)

I'm surprised with Hornsby as a choice considering Border's & Freedom has now closed at Macquarie Centre, There's a huge student market with Uni next door plus it's located large modern Tech focused business park which includes the local HQ Microsoft, Sony, Toshiba, & whole host of Telco's like Optus, opening at Macquarie centre could of killed 4 birds with one stone (Retail, Corporate, Student, FU Microsoft)

I'm surprised you call Hornsby North West Sydney. It's North!

I do agree that Macquarie Centre would have been a more logical choice, but I guess they may have felt Chatswood and Castle Hill are 15-20 mins from Macquarie Centre, whereas perhaps Hornsby gives them some 'coverage' of the Central Coast market.

I'd have preferred Macquarie Centre as well, purely because I'm about to start working in the nearby business park this week. It would have been so convenient!

I'm surprised you call Hornsby North West Sydney. It's North! It's actually NW of Sydney. North would be Terry Hills.

I too agree that Macq. Park would've seemed to make better sense...but it is what it is.

Technically it is more NNW. Hornsby has always been traditionally recognised as the northern most point of the North Shore. NW areas have normally been accepted as starting with the Hills District on the western side of Pennant Hills Road. Though if you talk to many people on the North Shore anyone who lives on the western side of the Lane Cove River is a westie.

made me laugh, used to live at Narrabeen(northern beaches),but on the western side of Pittwater Road. That qualified me as a westie according to some mates I surfed with.

So how long do they usually take to fit out one of these stores?

3-4 months?

10th September 2011, 11:40 AM
Well yesterday that big black space had a very big white Apple icon on it and Apple (http://www.apple.com.au) ,,
so its either a new bill board or a new store

There are tech specs on the size of the logo and print as well.

20th September 2011, 08:15 AM
Opening Sept 24th at 10am.

I'll be there!

24th September 2011, 10:45 PM
Well I was there bright an early this morning with a cast of thousands. Certainly a 'different' experience going to an Apple Store opening.

25th September 2011, 03:26 PM
I was here.

What size shirt?

25th September 2011, 06:24 PM
What size shirt?I thought you got one as well. Anyhow, the usual XL.

25th September 2011, 10:52 PM
Yeah I did...just wondering if they always issue XL or whether there was a variety of sizes and it's a bit of a lucky dip.

So going by your comment, always XL?

25th September 2011, 11:00 PM
I believe so. Also other people have confirmed so in the past.
Sydney, Bondi and Penrith ones were all XL.

26th September 2011, 12:24 AM
Because judging from appearances, the preferred Apple customer is "big boned" and "retains water". :)

26th September 2011, 10:22 AM
When I saw it was black, I thought it was going to be a turtle neck.... :)

27th September 2011, 03:01 PM
i wonder if the guy first in line is a mactalk member :)
i didn't line up because I was with my 2yr old son and I am sure he will get bored. But he does know how to say "Apple Store"
