Hey everyone,

Anyone having issues setting up a post-MobileMe @me.com email address on a Mac running Snow Leopard?

Won't connect for me. Always prompts for a password, even though it definitely is correct.

Thanks

Do you mean you've set up an iCloud @me.com account?

If so: Configure An iCloud Email Account on Snow Leopard (http://www.macstories.net/news/configure-an-icloud-email-account-on-snow-leopard/)

This is good. My Apple ID is my old, no longer used .mac address. I have a gmail account as the primary email for that, so I should be able to associate icloud with the existing apple ID. I have never used the apple ID i have @me.com (with itunes etc) because of using the .mac one for so long. I *really* wish there was some way of regenerating the email associated with that one, but there is not.

I'd like to know how to set up a @me.com email account with icloud. I've googled the question and got no real responses. Sure the old MobileMe people have their accounts. But can the people who never subscribed to MobileMe actually get an @me.com email? I'd really like to ditch my gmail one. I really have big trust issues with Google.

Can't give you an exact area dude, but it was in settings on the iPhone. Sorry I can't be more help. Maybe in iCloud on the iPhone in settings?

Pretty sure you'll need access to an iOS5 beta to claim an account through the iCloud beta. Not public release yet.

I was hoping that was not the case. Thanks. Look like waiting till Lion's release is the only option then. And getting in fast to get the username you want.

And getting in fast to get the username you want.

You'll still struggle with getting a username you want, as .me and .mac addresses will remain and be ported over. Since millions have become mac users, the usernames available has dwindled.
I want to use my name, but someone has used it as a mobileme alias, and now it's gone, forever!

Yeah, if you create a new Apple ID in either Mac OS X Lion or iOS 5 and choose not to use an existing email address, you'll get a new @me.com account.

Yep, every account ever will be migrated over to iCloud and you'll be able to use it for free. If you signed up for a trial .mac account 4 years ago with the username mike@mac.com and never actually paid for .mac or MobileMe, you'll now have mike@me.com for free with iCloud.
