Higher resolution Mac screens possibly in the works
Apple Including Ultra High Resolution Artwork in Lion for Possible Retina Displays? - Mac Rumors (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/23/apple-including-ultra-high-resolution-artwork-in-lion-for-possible-retina-displays/)

Having icons at 1024x1024 and background images at 3200x2000. Hmm why would you even generate wallpaper and icons with such high resolutions unless there were plans to utilise these images in higher resolution screens.

Yes this is a thin rumour. But it's enough for me to say that retina display for the Mac is on the cards. One day when the cost comes down. Or it could be related to resolution independence.

Here is a very nice article on the subject.

In the mood to max out the cc (for a change.) is there any more info on possible new displays? MacRumors Buyers guide quite rightly list the current displays as "Do not buy."

EDIT: There was a thread to do with a Mac Pro and some usb cable spaghetti as in the best hub recommendations. I can no longer find that thread and am thinking that the (Soon to be new?) Thunderbolt display can kill two birds with one stone.
