I don't have a DVD recorder, but if it's anything like a VCR, then it should have (at least) composite inputs. When you get the foxtel box plug the video/audio out into the DVD recorders input. Then the DVD recorder goes into the TV. To watch TV you'll need to be watching the DVD recorder, and have it set to play back the input.

was told will need scart to scart cable to put foxtel through DVDr

just the pioneer user manual is confusing, usually i can work these things out but not this one, im sure the foxtel bloke will help set it up

At my house, I have my optus box connected to both the TV and HDD/DVD Recorder via composite.

You don't need scart, there should be normal composite cables at the back of the set top box.

It's annoying now that I can't get IQ, because Optus has since discontinued it.

You will find that the Foxtel tech will set it up for you to record on your DVD Recorder, just ask him to connect the Foxtel Box to the DVDR then to the TV. Bascially exactly the same way that Neo said in a previous post.

Yer all done and working perfectly, records Foxtel sweet as and fairly easy to do

by the way Foxtel tech was a very grumpy old bastard, hardly helped me out at all but gave me enough info to figure it out.

What cables did the IQ come with? Did you have to buy additional cables? My installation is on Wednesday.

I only got the standard box, cant get IQ cos my building doesn't have the right wiring for it

Your IQ should come with a scart to RCA lead which will go directly into your TV
