Discuss App Store apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch here.
Hi All
I have had a look on the iTunes App Store at journal/diary and see some Apps that could be worth the money but i am still researching
To all you guys that already own an iPad, can you reccomend me a good Journal/diary app?
As this is one of the first apps i will be putting on my iPad when it arrives.

viJournal, which is currently available for the Mac and the iPhone will be availble for the iPad soon.

Just type into it from the iPad and hav e the ability to add photos.
Daily Notes.
You won't be disappointed, this app is very polished and well thought out. View chronologically or by categories (tabs down rhs) or filter with tags or word search.
Review here:
Daily Notes is your Leather Bound Notepad for iPad
Edit: I just noticed you want photos, which Daily Notes doesn't have. I'd still recommend it, it's a must-have IMHO!
I have bought Maxjournal and although not perfect it will do for now. I like the look of Daily Notes but with no photo ability it is limiting for a travel journal.
Will keep looking and if a better one comes along I will change.
MacJournal for iPad is coming.
Has been a staple Mac application for many years.

mmm Daily Notes looks promising.. and I like the UI better than MaxJournal.
I had seen WhiteNote - but didn't think it suited my needs. It might suit the original poster though - allows for text, handwriting, inserting pdf, images, even sound.

I am very hopeful that my iPad replaces writing pads for me... whether it is phone messages for work, client notes, action items, or taking notes in meetings.
Whilst initially I thought between the Notes.app and Pages both would serve me fine, I'm already noticing that having the date/time stamp, ordering entries by date, having different tabs (vs different documents) might indeed be a much better way to go.
All my requirements will be text... but will easily need to get them back into my secure work setting.
I will keep my eye on this thread! Thanks to the original poster for asking the question, and the the other members who have offered options up!
There seem to be a huge number of Note taking apps available for the iPad... but I wanted to make sure I found a good one first, so that once I start using it - I don't have to change products and have the drama of trying to move my data across.
I have decided to give Daily Notes a go... have just purchased it and will start using it and see how I go.

I purchased Chronicle. It appears to have everything I need. I can insert pictures etc and it can be password protected. Though I don't think it would be that secure!

I emailed the developer of white note yesterday. The current version is a bit buggy and a new version was due to be submitted to Apple this weekend. I also suggested few improvements like auto save, improved ribbon bars etc which was well received.
I've experimented with quite a few note taking journals over the last week as i want it for meeting/scribbling notes/ideas etc to type, write, draw, insert web clips and photos but I found that white pages suited my needs
I hope this helps a bit but it's ll about meeting your needs and personal preferences
According to the SkoobySoft web site, viJournal for the iPad is coming out Friday, September 24th.
Meanwhile, I asked on the Mariner Software support forums when MacJournal for the iPad is coming out and got the reply "any day now." I got that reply last week. Which app comes out first will get my dime.
I just got a reply from Mariner saying it has been submitted to the App Store. I would assume that means this week?

Skoobysoft website now says "October 2010"
A fair while coming in both cases I'd say. Maybe they thought the iPad might not take off?

Interesting. Macjournal has also not been released. One has to assume that, since they submitted it in June, it was rejected.... one wonders whats going on at Apple that they would reject something like a journal app.
I develop iJournaler so I'm obviously biased towards it. Here is a link if anyone is interested iTunes Store. We've worked to make it a compact app that doesn't take long to learn, but has the important features to make it very useful. If anyone has tried it here let me know what you think.
Macjournal has been released, and Mariner software has seen fit to release it separately to its iPhone app which doesnt look substantially different. $5.99 for the iPhone app and $7.99 for the iPad app. Guess I will give it a miss. I don't really think its *that* great.
