I updated 4 apps today using the phone (not iTunes). Updates were very fast and now happen directly on the existing icon, rather than creating a new icon that then moves to the old ones position once it's finished updating (as per 2.1)

I noticed that. Nice touch, but it's how it should have been all along.

For those of you into jailbreaking:

    blog.iphone-dev.org

They state they're still working on 2.2 JB software, yet there's already WinPWN and PWNAGETool on their "official downloads" list (left hand side of the screen) - and they're 2.2 - interesting.

The app store on the phone now displays more than one preview screen shot, and when you tap on one of the screen shots, it previews full screen.
    Nice touch.

Maybe it's refering to version 2.2 of their software, not the firmware version that their software jailbreaks.

I liek the 'update all' button in the app store. Doing them manually was killing me.

Oddly after upgrading to2.2 I now have 3g access in town. Optus has supposedly only installed 900mhz 3g here (the one theiphone does not support) as up till last night I only had standard gsm slow Internet. Eithor Optus did something overnight or 2.2 has done something., but eithor way 3g is welcomed

    Question

Hi guys, I JB my phone during 2.1 using QuickPwn, does that mean that I can't unlock my iphone anymore when there is a software unlock? May I know what is the baseband that is still safe for future software unlock??? currently on FW 2.1(5F136).

    Thanks!

Do you have automatic mail retrieval on?

Because now that automatic mail retrieval works (it was broken in 2.1), your phone will be doing stuff a whole lot more often than it was before.

The iPhone also goes into a 'deep sleep' mode around the 15 minute mark - checking your emails at 15 minute intervals ensures this never happens so you'll fly through battery life.

Indeed I believe a lot of the battery life 'improvements' delivered in 2.1 were the unintentional side effect of automatic mail retrieval being broken.

I'm almost certain mine still checked my email every 15min on 2.1. I'd get that new mail noise every so often, without manually checking.

I noticed the same. Until saturday, when I updated to 2.2, I wasn't getting a 3G reception in my area. Now I have it which also is very welcomed.

Was it within fifteen minutes of using your phone?

Mine still would occasionally too (in the beginning I thought mine was working) but overnight for example it never retrieved mail.
