Looking forward to getting my first iPad![]()
Apple has finally confirmed the details of its next iPad launch event. It will take place on Wednesday, March 7th at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco. I guess thats early hours of Thursday for us Aussies.

10 points for whoever can guess what they'll be announcing.
The only question is: will we see just an announcement (with availability later), or will they be available on the day?
iPad. Now where's my 10 point?!
Seriously though, it's great news for those holding off to buy it.

Been holding off, and am really looking forward to this. Double resolution will kill off any doubts I may have had about whether to get a 2 now, or wait. Wonder if the prices will drop, Aussie dollar is way stronger now than it was on the release of the 2 last year... fingers crossed![]()
Everyone will be talking about todays Apple event announcement until next weeks event.
But what everyone is looking at carefully is the actual invite.
And it seems the new iPad will have no home button - and as the invite says 'we have something you really have to see. And touch'
Well spotted, could be an issue with the perspective of the shot, but would be interesting if they've enabled touch commands in the bezel!
Where is the home button??? Or is that an iPad in landscape config?

Image could be landscape, or iPad upside down, or photoshopped. Rumours last year had said Apple would get rid of the Home Button. Based on the wording on the invite, I'm sticking with no more Home Button. Guess we all have to wait and see.
But I was trying to work out how it will work if there is no button and it is all touch.
If you've been holding off buying an iPad any longer than the last few weeks, all you've done is miss out on owning an iPad.

Well if theres no home button, thats OK really. Android vendors have been doing it for ages and its no biggie. If theres no hardware button, there is bound to be something in the bezel, and if there is, there will be yet another round of acrimonious lawsuits between Samsung and Apple and isnt *that* getting old.
Forget the new iPad. I want a new, totally updated iPod Touch. I was all ready to buy one last refresh but all they did was add a white model. My 2nd gen model is nearly 4 years old and wear and tear is beginning to be an issue. C'mon Apple!

I had an iPad1 and sold it a couple of months ago when the opportunity presented itself. Living without it has been a minor nuisance, but for me, bring on a pension, an iPad is a real luxury, not a necessity, and I have to save for stuff like this. Yes, I've missed out on owning an iPad, but had I bought one, I would not now even be in a position to consider the upcoming version. I made the right decision to hold off, and I imagine others might have done the same thing for similar reasons. At my age and state of health, I want to get the most recent tech I can afford. Waiting is good. Patience pays off.

Maybe they will release a new one in June/July if you're lucky.
I'm all in. Time to say goodbye to my faithful iPad1 I picked up on Portland a few years ago.

No home button? Finally. My bet is a retina iPad by the look of the invite. I am really hoping we will see a hight storage iPad of 125gb.
The picture (although probably photoshopped) certainly looks like a retina display?
It does look very crisp so retina could be on the cards. Otherwise I don't know that I will be upgrading from my iPad1 (which is really still a kids toy).
Otherwise I don't know how keen I am on "buttonless", you need to have *some* buttons for power and hard resets for example... I'm sure there could be concealed buttons for this though...
Will be interesting to see what flag(s) they end up waving.

Yeah, I don't see them getting rid of the home button. Not yet, anyway.
