    Default IPad 2 Cracked Screen

Never thought it would happen to me but it did. Fell off my bed onto carpet. Had a habit of leaving it on my bed at night. Toss and turned all night and BAM ! NOT doing that again.

Must say I thought they were tougher than this because it wasn't a big fall at all. No dent on the aluminum back but luckily it's still useable though

Does anyone know Apples policy on this ?

    heh.
I fell of my motorcycle and dominated my iPad 2.
Bent case, cracked glass. Everything else was in working order
I took it in and they replaced it. I think i was lucky. But i had read other who got the same treatment.

Check out the thread in the orange sofa about it

Book a Genius Bar appointment, tell your story honestly and hope for the best. If not, you'll be up for the cost of a refurbished device.

You know I have copped shit for being an "Apple Fan Boy" for many years. Visited Apple Doncaster this morning, told them the truth and iPad was replaced no questions asked.

Thanks Apple, in me you have a customer for life.

    Very Happy and relieved

just for future reference, if Apple didn't replace it, you should be able t get it fixed under accidental damage on household insurance.

I got one for my dad and the day I got it I knocked it gently on a coffee cup and the screen cracked. Not sure how tough it really is - never so much as scratched my iPhone after years of abuse.

This thread has made my day! (well that and the bottle of 3 Monts I had earlier)! I can't think of another company that would be so cool!

Oh and I think it's only natural to use the iPad at night in bed before getting too sleepy to get up and sleeping with it! My advice is to put it UNDER the covers instead of on them and it won't meet the floor during the night! I put it on the other side of the bed! This obviously won't work if you have a partner but I'm a single yuppie so it doesn't bother me. My iPad knows it loses out whenever any guests stay over! :P

I can only praise apple and there policies towards their customers. If you are polite, upfront and honest you will find the genius bar people very helpful.
What is amazing is watching how people get rude towards them, especially about iphone reception on Vodafone and optus! I watched the other day as the young girl was verbally attacked by this guy who was clearly frustrated however not making he's case any better with he's rudeness.
What is it that people think being rude will get them somewhere? strange, travelling through Asia has taught me to be polite, firm and respectful to the person in order to get what you require.

I had a habit of leaving it on my phone at night too. And it has been dropped four or five times.

When I had my iPad 1, I was extremely cautious about breaking the screen, and the ipad 1 is pretty thick, but I can't imagine how strong the ipad 2 could be to withstand such beatings
