Default Converting midi file to MP3

Does anyone know how to convert a midi to MP3? I can do it through GB but often when I import a file into
GB it alters the midi totally so would rather be able to convert it directly.

iTunes used to be able to do it.

Are you on Lion or Snow leopard? If GB can open them then surely QuickTime X should, then under file select Export with the option of selecting Audio Only in the Format Tab below, though it's m4a extension, iTunes can convert to mp3 if you really needed to.
