Default iTunes automatically changed "Date Added" data (or re-imported from back up?) wtf?

I just received an alert when my phone was syncing that there was too much music in my "Recently Added" Playlist.

I sorted my music by "Date Added" and found that it was all added over a half hour period last night (100GB+)

It appears to still be in it's original order, just instead of being added over a period of years its all appears to have been "added" in a day.

I can't imagine how it would even be possible to do this if i tried. play counts and other data are unchanged. I didn't update any software yesterday.

anyway, doesn't seem to be any harm done, just thought it might be worth posting in case someone else had experienced this

    cheers
