If that's a fake, it's the best one I've seen. I'm going to call that one real.
Google Maps looks pretty awesome that size, too.
Although technically steve has been known to flip-flop.
"who wants to watch video on an iPod" :-)
and he was specifically talking about the iPhone (ie smart phone interface design)
I personally don't think we'l see a stylus, but if there is one, steve will introduce it as the best stylus ever.

If that is real, which I am certain it is, I will be there day one. The prices seem OK, the size is perfect, and it looks to have a very nice screen resolution. I want.

It's still using GoogleMaps at least in that picture. Though the > blue icon looks slightly different to an iPhone's one.

iSlate beta tester spills to Cringeley:

Jason Calacanis has been saying similar things via Twitter.
Cringley's source is probably Calacanis.

not buying the rumour that it has a built in TV tuner, although if there is then it begs the question "why not the AppleTV?"

this tablet thing will be pointless. it's a mix between a small notebook and an iPhone, two devices that already cover the intended purpose of the tablet. well actually the iPhone already does it but it just doesn't have a keyboard and larger capacity hard drive and memory.

Exactly - who would want a laptop when you could have a real powerful computer to do real work on (MacPro) and an iPad for portability?
My thoughts: If the iSlate includes a gesture version of iLife, I think in the future we'll mark tomorrow as the day the Desktop paradigm ended. No pressure!
But seriously, it's high time we moved on from windows, folders, mice and keyboards for everyday computing. I already find lots of tasks easier on my iPhone than on my Mac. Let's all just move on.
iPhone 4S 64GB White // Macbook Pro Mid-09 15" Anti-glare 2.8 GHz Duo // iPhone 3GS 32GB Black // iMac 24" 2.8 GHz (as my TV) // Airport Extreme Late-09 (my printer and hard drive server)
The desktop paradigm still suits the vast majority of businesses... Whilst workers may think it's cool to be able to wander around anywhere with a tablet to do their computing, employers will still want you sitting behind a desk.
And until wireless data transfers are a lot faster/more powerful (watch out Brains), you still need to plug into a network/drive to get "serious" data (ie video) for working on...
But for personal computing... browsing the Net, writing the Christmas letter/next great novel, for planning your day and what to eat and double checking that Angelina Jolie REALLY was in Hackers... yes, the iPad could be the beginning of the shift of the Personal Computer world...
there will be a security threat right before anything new is unveiled and the event will be cancelled and rescheduled to a 'later date'
