I had the exact same problem about 6 weeks ago. I took it to a genius bar and they replaced my phone. They said the problem is that your phone thinks the headset is still plugged in.
Have had my iPhone for a month and have already encountered minor problem.
When I ring people or recieve a call, the others cannot hear me [or any sound] when I'm talking.
The only way for people to hear me is press the SPEAKER button. Once on loudspeaker I can be heard [not as clear but crackly]
Have tried rebooting, restoring, unplugging headhones in/out ..etc
Am running Vers, 2.2.1 on 3G
Do any of you talented people have any Tips/Tricks that may help me.
Cheers. Thanks in advance

Yep, I've had the same problem.
There is a Knowledge Base article here: iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
Try everything on that list. If that doesn't work, call Apple.
They're replacing my phone due to this issue.

I have this happen sometimes on my v1 USA iPhone - it's a royal pain in the ass. I doubt that anything will be done with it here in Australia either - even though it should still be covered.
Ho hum - would be great if I could be upgraded to a 3g version just before the new ones come out - I'd be able to sell it![]()

Yeah mine is a 3G, you're probably out of luck with a v1!
