The iPhone forum. Talk about the hardware and troubleshooting here.
My iPhone was at the red battery screen for having not been charged for 2 days, and when it got enough juice to show the home screen, I noticed something above the application icons I'd never seen before.
Specifically the Optus text. Anyone else seen this?
Edit: Eh fancy forum code that breaks the picture link. See below for bigger pic thanks, Huy.
yeh mine did that after one of the updates but then it went away. Not sure what caused it.
Yep happened to me a few times... only after taking out my sim whilst the unit was switched on and putting in another sim on another network.
I recall it happening to me as well. It went away and I've never seen it again.

About Me
Have seen this before. It appears to be something that's just gone wrong. A reboot usually fixes it. I've seen this when my phone has decided to crash and 'reboot in safe mode'. That's always a fun one![]()

Pfft, sif it has anything to do with Optus.
Its a bug in the firmware, writing your carriers name in the wrong position on the screen.
I've never seen it happen (yes I'm with optus)... but it just screams of a software bug. And a rare one judging by the number of people reporting it, and the fact they say they've never seen it again.
well, call apple and get a new iphone. :P

That is when you set an alarm.
This happened to me when I was switching around sims to test my unlock, but then it went away and never came back. I think I have a screenshot laying around somewhere.
The text went away when I restarted the phone, but then it came back again yesterday when I switched the device to airplane mode and off again when I was in an area with sporadic Optus 3G/GPRS/plain network coverage to try and force it to reconnect to 3G. Very strange.
