My wife's phone showed 570mb used after one day of use. Telstra reported just 40kb used. The next day the phone showed only 60mb had been used and she hadn't reset the counter but the Telstra app then showed that 500mb had even used. It's all over the shop!

Crazy. I've set SMS notifications for data usage ("notice.on" to 17686 on Telstra) so we'll see how that goes. I get that people use their new toys a bit more at first, and Siri, maps etc can chew data - but not like this!

I use the My Data Mge app. If you set it up correctly using location services it'll use a lot of battery, but is a great way to track data usage.

As said in another thread, the iPhone 5 ios 6.0 doesn't seem to hold on to a wifi point very long. I've noticed the wifi antenna is always off when I wake the phone, and I have to constantly rejoin my Uni wifi when moving around campus. So I think quite a few of us are using 3/4g instead of wifi throughout the day. Sucks. I've installed

The 'app' just changes your network settings so all data goes through Onavo's proxy. The proxy fetches data on your behalf, compresses it, and sends it to your phone.

I have burned through 1GB of data in a week on Telstra. My normal use for a month (iPhone 4S) was just over a 1GB. No great change to my usage patterns; Telstra on Twitter have indicated that there have been reports of strange data use.

Anybody else with Telstra checked usage and noticed anything.

My data usage is out of control. On Sunday I barely used my phone yet my Telstra usage indicated over 500MB of data used. I am churning through 1GB per day where I used to go through 300-400Mb as I tether my phone. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated!!

New Billing Cycle started on the 27th & have already gone through 800mb & that was all in the first 2 days. Have spent 1.5 hours on the phone to Telstra this morning only to be told to turn off cellular data & they will look into it.
There has to be a fix somewhere??

Few days back I reset network settings and the reset all settings for good measure. It seems to have fixed the excess data.

Give it a go and let us know how it goes.

That article appears to be about an update to Verizon carrier settings. How would that affect Australian users?

This thread is about the bug in Australia.

The linked article is about the same bug in the US with a fix.

There is also a 11 page thread on whirlpool about the bug effecting local carriers.

Yeah, also worth noting we have the same model phone as the Verison phone (The "World GSM" is the "US CDMA" phone...)



I really hope we get a fix soon, I've not changed my usage patterns at all, and I'm way over my limit.



I've even been using Onavo the last week and it hasn't helped.

I did get a carrier settings update over the weekend, but it hasn't seemed to make any difference. Hopefully there's a fix in the works and Telstra follow Verizon's example...

my carrier setting is still listed as Telstra 13.1

Hmmm...so's mine, could've sworn that's what it was on Friday and that it prompted me for an update yesterday or the day before.

I got that update to, but i'm running beau's custom telco logo and it didn't change ( it should have ) when it updated.
