Hi all,
I have recently encountered a rather frustrating issue related to text messaging with the iPhone and would appreciate any guidance and wisdom that you may provide.
The issue is as follows: My partner, using an unlocked iPhone 3GS recently moved to NZ, and ever since then I can't receive any text msgs from her. She is using a NZ prepaid sim card (with international roaming activated), and while she receives all of my msgs, I can't receive hers. Or rather, I get something like 1 out of 5 texts sent.
At first I thought the issue had to do with her not putting in the Australian country code, +614 instead of 04, in front of my number. She deleted me as a contact and re-entered my number with +61. So now, every time I text her, my number shows up as being +61, and when she goes to reply to my msg (in the same thread), the reply itself starts a whole new thread in which my number is starting with 04 - which of course means that I don't receive it.
We aren't using iMessage either as I have an Android phone atm. Is it possible that my Australian format number, the 04 version, is stored somewhere else on her iPhone? And has anyone else encountered this issue.
Cheers for any help given![]()
She may have your contact entered twice, yes. She should go to home screen, scroll left to Spotlight (search) and type in some digits from your number. It will pull up all contacts with those digits.
The other thing is have you ported carriers? I had issues receiving SMS from overseas when I ported from one carrier to another. I had to ring my telco at the time and they had to update their partners routing tables or something. Once that was done, the problem was solved. Not sure if that is your issue as it sounds like her phone has the issue.
