Default Safari not working on iPhone 4

I am not entirely sure what has happened, but i was using safari and all of a sudden it would not work. It is completely greyed out adn i cannot do anything with it. I got a message up saying that i had to connect to wifi or turn data on, but it was connected to wifi and i can't work out why data is not connected to safari cos it is to everything else .... I can use the internet fine in any other application.

Can anyone tell me what setting may have been changed and where i will find it to turn it back ... i have turned all the restrictions back off so that that is not interfering in ... but i can't think of anything else ... I went through all the general settings and nothing comes to mind as being out of place .... its weird !!

Hold the home button and sleep button at the same time until you see an Apple logo. Problem solved.
