    Default Setting up a USB printer with time capsule

    Hey All

    I'm trying to set up a Canon MF4340 printer via USB to a time capsule so I can print from any machine on my network to the printer.

    I have not had any luck printing from either a Mac or a PC. I'm running 10.6 on the Mac and Windows 7 on the PC. The printer was working fine when connected directly to the Windows PC and there are Mac drivers available for it so I assume it will work fine with a Mac

    Any ideas?

    First, have you installed it on the network?

    Ensure you're connected to the Time Capsule's wireless network. Go to System Preferences > Print and Fax > click the "plus" button in the lower-left hand corner > wait for the printer list to refresh > click your printer > click Add.

    On the Windows 7 computer, you're going to have to install Bonjour, which comes on the Time Capsule CD. Insert the CD, install the software, then click "Bonjour Printer Utility" in your programs list.

    I've installed Bonjour on the windows machine but still no luck...

    Tried setting up the printer from the Mac and getting a weird error saying the printer is not supported???

    Canon UFR II Printer Driver

    The Printer is not supported, or the printer information is not acquired correctly. If the printer is supported, check the printer connection, delete the printer and add it again and acquire the printer information on the print dialog box: 10322

    Seems I am not the only one having problems with this printer...
    Apple - Support - Discussions - Cannot install Canon mf4350d (UFR II) ...

    Considering selling the time capsule now as it doesn't do what I was promised it would do.

    Anyone had much experience with USB printer servers and multifunction printers?

    contacted canon and they do not have any drivers that are compatible with the time capsule.

    Do I have any other work arounds or am do I need to go back and look for a decent USB/Ethernet print server.

    Also I want to know if I can set up the time capsule as a file server and then make it back up to a USB hard drive? Any guides on how I can do this?
