    I've got a Western Digital MyBook Pro, USB/FW400/FW800, 500GB, 7200RPM, 8.9ms

    Purchased July '07 for $299

Still going but apparently WD have reliability issues

Macpower Icecube series. Best stand-alone enclosures you can get (solid construction and Oxford chips throughout), and the higher-end models sport FW800.

Mechcon were you after an external case or the whole drive??
If you want to put your existing drive into a case it certainly won't go into the WD (easily).
Have a read of clockworks thread for some great casings.

I have a couple of these - IceCube II Pleiades Super Combo - and they are great. Very expensive, but excellent in every way.
