    Default Gamepad for Mac??

I have been trying to hook up my PS3 controller through USB to play emulators such as Nestopia and MacMAME.

I have installed a simple driver and Gamepad companion but I have only been succesful once to get it hooked up the rest of the Gamepad will recognise the PS3 controller being plugged in but won't allow me to map the controller.

Does anyone know if I buy a Mac gamepad from say Logitech it will work without problems on emulators?

Or does someone have a surefire way of hooking up the PS3 and being mapped without problems?

I am running 10.5.4 Intel Macbook.

I might try my 10.4.11 iMac see if that works.

we have logitech basic gamepads, they are kinda like ps one controllers, they work fine without any drivers or anything, use 'MAME OS X' it works a lot better than macmame, and the controls worked first time no worries. I did have problems if I opened MAME OS X first then plugged controllers in, but it was fine if they were plugged in first.

I've used the xbox 360 controller (wired and wireless with dongle) without issue on my mac.

Just need to install a driver found here - Tattiebogle.net - Mac OS X driver

The site specifically mentions users have had success using macmame

Wired Xbox 360 controllers are quite cheap at the moment as well.

I've used a Powerwave and MS gamepad on my Mac-with no drivers needed.

Hi, I just purchased a NES USB controller and cannot get it to work with my Mac (Intel, OSX 10.4.11). The controller is recognized in System Profiler but will not work with virtualNES, nestopia or anything. I cannot find a gamepad mapping program for mac (similar to joy2key for PC). Please help!!

The xBoks 360 ones work VERY well with the drivers on the internet, its my first choice. Its very very nice.

In response the recent post, no there is nothing, its probably based on a windows onlt generic driver, have a link for it?

I just bought a NES USB controller from phreque.com which they claim they are HID game pads that work on windows and Mac.
I am on a intel macbook with the newest update of Leopard
I can not get it to work on any emulator for the life of me. It shows up in the system profiler as well but the emulators aren't working. It doesn't show up as a device in Gamepad Companion. I mapped the keys onto it in USB overdrive but that still doesn't work.

They are currently trying to help me figure it out but if anyone knows what the problem is please help. I dropped almost 80$ on 2 of them.

Richard Bannister's Emulator Enhancer adds a menu within NES/SNES & Sega Genesis emulators to map buttons for most USB gamepads and includes other features. I've been using a old Gravis PS1 style gamepad & XBox 360 wired controller with EE for many years.
Here is the url: Emulator Enhancer

Sprint WiMax Speeds(Motorola Photon): 9.1 mbps down / 1.8 mbps up

Yeah, I have tried that but the emulator still does not recognize the controller.

Tryout Controller Mate. I know you probably don't want to have to buy anymore software after dropping $80 on dodgy controllers, but you can give the demo a shot and if it works you can do all sorts of things with the software.
