Default Apple Wireless Keyboard not working

    Hi,

This is weird. My keyboard doesn't seem to be discoverable anymore. I tried changing batteries......no luck!
I haven't changed anything but my Powerbook won't pick it up anymore. When I turn it on, the light blinks for about 30 secs and then it turns off.

Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks...

Turn it on and off a few times.. I have had mine do something similar, eventually got it working.

I rebooted and it's working now......That was weird, never happened before.

Mine has been a little a quirky at times but often comes good after I flick the button on the bottom on and off and give the computer enough time to re-establish comms.

Have you checked the battery level?

Overall I'm very impressed with these bluetooth wireless devices. Very little bother.

you might be having the same problem as me.

It's nothing to do with batteries, or the electronics inside, but the problem lies in the battery bay. The coils on one side no longer push a set of batteries close enough so that they power the keyboard. This has been happening for the last few weeks and it was only the other day that I discovered that this was the fault (I could wedge some tightly folded paper to push out the coil and it would work for a little, then eventually come loose). You might like to play around and see if this is the cause for yours.

Which brings me to a question that I've been meaning to ask: does the Apple Protection Plan cover me for peripherals that go bunk during the warranty period? I'm kinda hoping I can get this keyboard replaced under warranty.

I also have had this problem within the last few weeks

Why would the battery bay only NOW (and coincidentally, to a whole lot of other people) stuff up ?

I asked Ric (macmate) about it: He says he has had LOTS of problems with it: Thinks it is the most recent OS update.

Right now, I am not having too many issues, but, I might just wait to see what happens when the next system update arrives.

Yes, If the keyboard was purchased at the same time as the computer covered by AppleCare. They usually will not replace a wireless keyboard (or mouse) but send it off for repair.

Normally, peripherals like mice and keyboards are replaced - not on the spot, but they are replaced. I've never seen a keyboard repaired personally.
