    Default Ever wanted to change your skype sign in account name?

    Have you ever wanted to change your skype account (log in) name?
    Does any one know how to do this?

    Investigation so far on skype forums and communication with skype has proved fruitless.

    Does any one have any ideas?

    Short of registering another new account name, you can't AFAIK.

    Most websites don't allow you to change your login name. But you might be able to email them and request the change.

    thanks for your responses.

    Skype has gotten back to me to say

    Thank you for contacting Skype Support.

    We are sorry to hear, that you are having problems with Skype for Mac.
    If you have created another account or simply wish to delete a Skype name from the login screen - please follow the instructions below:
    1. Quit Skype.
    2. Double click on the "Macintosh HD" link on your desktop.
    3. Go to the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Skype
    Please note that the ~sign means your home folder. You can find your home folder by opening Finder and selecting Go -> Home from the menu bar or pressing Command(Apple), Shift and H keys at the same time.
    4. Delete the folder named after the username you wish to remove from the login screen
    Please let us know if this has resolved the issue. Should you need more assistance, feel free to contact us again; we will be glad to help.

    that's pretty helpful - except that the folder doesnt exist in my library/ app/ support

    have spent hours and hours hunting. this is very strange.

    Red face it works!

    what the person wrote about those 4 steps really works...

    if your confused on where to find the "user" i will explain how to get there...
    P.s I couldn't find skype in my "application support" so what I did was log out of my skype account trash the skype then I emptied my trash... and did the following steps...

    1. go to "finders" then on the left hand side there is a word in bold print that says "places" underneath should say your user name (ex: joebravo) click on your user name.
    2. click on "library"
    3 . click on "application support"
    4 . find "skype" and in that folder should be the usernames that you don't want in your login in screen in skype.

    This method worked for me... So hopefully it will work for you!
