Tuesday Morning News

Good Morning Nerds and Nerdettes. We begin with some good news about our Dear Leader. Steven P Jobs (the ‘P’ of course stands of Pucking Awesome) is a finalist for Time Magazines Person of the Year. Jobs was made Fortune Magazines CEO of the Decade a few months ago and I imagine that this would be a huge ego boost for the smug bastard.

Anyone else noticed that the App Store got a redesign a little while ago? Well if you didn’t notice then it did and you should check it out. Apparently the redesign is being praised by some and condemned by others (nerds either love something or hate something…never in between). Some think that it puts too much emphasis on the poster and less on the information. What does MacTalk Australia (the only nerds worth listening too) think about the changes?

Speaking about the App Store. Apple has released the best apps of 2009. There’s no lame joke here…move along.

There have been multiple reports of iMac 27inch problems, cracked screens and flickering displays, and now Apple has officially delayed it until the figure out what the problem is. They have apologised for the trouble this has caused. My guess is that the flickering display is sourced back to the graphics card….or aliens sending messages to us in morse code…but the first one isn’t very likely.

Ars has just released their review for the 27inch iMac. As Ars are often one of the best reviewers of tech around (certainly they go into the most details) I thought that some of you MacTalkers who were interested in purchasing the iMac (once the problems have been dealt with) then you may want to read this.

Lets hear it for the GetAMac campaign. They’ve just won ‘Campaign of the Decade‘ by AdWeek. So a hearty Mazel Tov to TBWA/Media Arts Lab who came up with the resounding success of the ad. Love it or hate it it’s a memorable ad and that’s what sells products and convinces people to switch.

Looking for a Christmas Card (or Hanukkah/Kwanzaa Card…lets not be discriminatory here) and you happen to have a spare iPhone lying around? Well why not make a holiday card with an iPhone as the centrepiece. Yes let the world marvel at your wealth by saying “that’s right…even my card has an iPhone”.

If you are in the market for a late present and don’t want to spend much…or anything at all. Then why no get your significant other a copy of Google Chrome. That’s right…the FREE browser can now be wrapped and emailed and sent to your non-technically inclined friends (because nerds have been using this for at least a year).
