Well today is the big day for Apple shareholders. Today Apple present their quarterly earnings to Wall Street. Considering that Apple has done spectacularly well for a company in a Global Financial Crisis i’m going to be interested to see the results of todays call.
We all know that Mac is king (if you didn’t then you wouldn’t be on this website) but what does the mainstream Australian media think of the OS? In a write-up of Windows 7 in the SMH they include the line “Not as much as Apple’s Mac OS X, which remains the gold standard for mainstream operating systems”. Makes you feel pretty good right?
Facebook for iPhone. Love it or hate it it’s become one of the most popular apps. When 3.0 was released a few months ago it was lacking the essential push notification. Well all of that is about to change with an update being pushed out soon. The question has to be asked…are you really going to use it?
Al Gore may have invented the Internet but a small company invented the Ethernet. Apple, along with a number of other hardware manufacturers, are being sued by a small company in Texas because they are infringing on patents. Good luck guys!
Apparently Apple is testing a 4G phone on US Carrier Verizon (iPhones are currently locked to AT&T). This was bound to happen. Americans hate their iPhones on AT&T and Apple needs to bring out a new phone.
The world is abuzz with the new Motorola Droid. Apparently it’s the closes Android phone that could match the iPhone. BGR has a sneak peak and some initial impressions and are very satisfied with it. Several days ago Verizon ran an ad for the Droid that directly challenged the iPhone. Can you say….cat fight *cooly slips on a pair of shades*
Wolfram Alpha. They were big about six months ago when they launched to take on Google. Then they just stopped being news. They’re trying to change all that by releasing an iPhone app. Not really news I know but wait till you hear the price. They’re charging $50 for it. Stop laughing…seriously….stop laughing.
Domain for iPhone is a great app for those that are searching for a new house or a new lover. What….I hear you say….”did you say…LOVER???”. Well yes I did MacTalkers. Apparently Domain has started advertising naked women for $950 p/w. Well it’s still cheaper than the dating game.
Whilst Stephen Conroy and his censorship team may be the bad guy in Australia I think that he’s got some stiff competition. Like many of you my first experience with breasts was the classic turning around the calculator and laughing at the fact that it spelt “BOOBIES” (heh…boobies) but apparently this was too much for one puritanical Christian who censored his iPhone app. Seriously…what a douche bag!
We all remember when Scott (you remember Scott) stood up in front of the Apple faithful and said that in-app purchases would only work on paid apps. Well if you go back and examine the video footage you’ll see that he had his fingers crossed behind his back. However Apple may actually have a reason for going back on their word…to keep developers happy. Well I guess we’ll see if it works.
On a personal note i’m afraid I won’t be doing the news for about a month or so. I’m heading abroad to hopefully get a broad (heh…I stayed up all night thinking that one up). You will however be in the capable hands of all the other various news monkeys and Mr. Decryption himself.
