Tuesday Morning News

Snow Leopard. Heard of it? Well apparently that’s what Apple is calling their new Operating System. Release dates are being thrown all over the place. Apple said “September” but now some sites are saying it could be released at the end of August. We know it’s soon because the last beta seed was apparently the Gold Master and some spy shots have been uploaded of the packaging.

Also on Snow Leopard news Crunch Gear have put out a preview of it for your ogling pleasure

To prepare yourself for this new upgrade The Unofficial Apple Weblog has some tips on preparing your mac. It’s fairly basic and it mainly goes through ensuring that your apps are intel-only but do have a read.

The TomTom iPhone app was released yesterday. One of the cool things about this app was the in-car kit that would act as a handsfree car set, GPS enhancer, stereo and kitchen sink all rolled into one. The app itself costs $99.99 and no word yet one when the car kit will be released (or its price). The good news is that because the car kit has its own GPS inside it then iPod Touch owners will be able to use and the app without being in a wi-fi hotspot.

Whilst you may consider MacTalk to be the best Apple-themed website on all if teh interwebz I agree with you. However there is this one guy, by the name of Gruber, who has a pretty neat website called Daring Fireball. He written up a piece about several prominent technologists that have swapped their iPhones for Android and the results…well…read for yourself. Gruber maintains that competition is good for Apple and as Android is lacking in several places it should have started by simply copying what Apple has done right.

Another bug in iPhone 3.0 means that your supposedly deleted emails may not be so deleted. If you happen to know the subject line then you can still search for them in Spotlight. So I just have to make sure that no one searches my iPhone spotlight for ‘Donkey’, ‘Girl’ and ‘Show’….there’s gonna be far too much explaining to do.

A fairly interesting piece on our Dear Leader Mr. Steve Jobs. Apparently Steve gave no comment.

The reason that there was no comment was because Apple tried to block the story

For a short white Jumping URL is available free in the app store (thanks BennyLing) get it!
