Tuesday Morning News

steve_jobs_630pxDo you love intelligent design? (smart industrial design not the belief that God and Science are compatible). Well if so then you’ll love this piece about Apple’s design Wunderkind Jonathan Ive.

Remember how YouTube uploads spiked to over 400% as soon as people got their nifty, new iPhone 3GS’s. Well expect them to go up even further! Case designs have been spotted in the wild which imply that the next generation of iPod’s will have a camera. Even your iPod gets a camera…what next? Seriously…what next!

At the movies? Feeling the inevitable strain on your bladder that comes after drink an extraordinarily overpriced coke? Don’t want to miss any important dialogue? Well there’s an App for that! RunPee is an app recently launched in America that lets you know when a pointless scene is coming up so you can leg it to the bathroom. While away the app gives you a short synopsis of what scene you’re missing. Word is it will be launched sometime soon in Australia to many a grateful audience members.

Got an iPhone or iPod? Want to display your videos to friends, family or potential thieves on the train? Well then you will be rapt to hear that Apple is considering adding a Micro-Projector to their next generation device. Whoopee?

Want to jailbreak that sweet new iPhone 3GS but you don’t have a Windows machine then you’re in luck. They’ve now added a Mac compatible version (I don’t know why they did Windows first…it is a mystery)

The noted discolouration on the new iPhone 3Gs’s may not be from a combination of wireless and 3G use but rather from 3rd party cases. According to reports rubbing alcohol should get it back to good as new. So get out that vodka and a rag!

Video footage has been released of the Apple Employee who was shot at the Virginia store. Whilst you don’t see the actual shooting they do provide you with a description of the shooter. If you see him, kick him in the nuts for me and then notify police.

Like Twitter? Like push notification? Well it seems that the first push notification twitter app has been released for the new iPhone (iTunes link). There is a small addendum in that push notification is only between iTwitter users…so…yeah!

Dropped your precious iPhone? Cracked screen? Sucks dude! However Apple is now fixing the screens in-house in their Apple retail stores. Regrettably this service isn’t covered under warranty or Applecare and will cost $US199. No word yet on Australian pricing.

Like iPhone? Like porn? Then you would have loved the first softcore porn app for the iPhone…unfortunately you were a bit late as Apple has already pulled it from the app store. Though it begs the question…why pay for an app when there’s free porn through the awesome Safari browser?

The new trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds has been released. I know this isn’t Mac news but it’s Quentin Tarantino for God’s sake so you’ll forgive me!
