Ben Grubb was our man on the ground today and he filed the following report from the scene of the opening in Robina:

Apple Australia today unveiled its fourth Australian Apple store in Robina on the Gold Coast. Over 1,000 people turned out to the event, with one young man and his mother lining up overnight. The store will staff approximately 50 local people and one of its unique features that sets it a part from other Australian Apple stores is its shopfront display. The shopfront showcases Australian and New Zealand applications for the iPhone and iPod touch alongside other countries’ applications.

When questioned as to why Apple hasn’t opened a store in Brisbane, the spokesperson said that the question should really be why they’ve chosen Robina. They said that the local demographics surrounding the store, a university and lots of families, is one of the many reasons for it being placed on the Gold Coast.

BCains has uploaded some cool photos to Flickr from the store opening, and Phase has posted a couple of awesome shots up on the forums. If you’ve got any photos, chuck ‘em up on the thread too!
