Those on 3 will be happy to know that if your device supports it (if it supports HSPA on the 850Mhz frequency, it will work – i.e: iPhone is good), you will roam to Telstra’s NextG network, for voice and data. Will only cost 50c/MB too. Still not cheap, but it’s cheaper and the coverage can’t be beat. Great if you *must* have data and there’s no 3 signal.
Mobile Orchard has a list of things to do in order to avoid the wrath of Victor Wang and his App Store rejectors.
Griffin have a new little gadget called the SmartShare USB – it’s basically a USB splitter cable, that lets you make use of two devices off the one USB port. Think of it as a portable USB hub. Stash it in your laptop bag for those unexpected moments, right along side that condom you have “just in case”, that’s never actually been required for years.
This iPhone app is useless in Australia, but I am highlighting it because I want someone to make it for Australia. It’s an app by MasterCard that is a giant database of ATM’s and their locations. GPS + maps + ATM locations = handy.
Smoking Apples reviews the Logitech diNovo Edge Mac Edition keyboard. Extremely fancy pants. I really like that scroll bar thingy. Looks like a giant finger print magnet though. Plus I treat my keyboards like shit (literally, I bang them around, spill crap all over them, wear them out within months) and this keyboard looks too expensive to treat like shit.
File this under WTF. Some dude called Harvey Norman (yes, that is his name), in New Zealand, has taken Apple to court because his MacBook Air would have a rampant kernel_task process, causing the system to be unusable. Apple responded to this claim, in court, that “the problems relate to a combination of the monitor the applicant is using (a 27″ Dell monitor), while running a program called Xcode over a long period of time. They believe the Apple air is not designed for this, and is causing a core in the CPU to shut down because of overheating. They say this is not a fault with the system, but rather inappropriate use.” The judge found that Apple was to refund Harvey for the purchase of the MacBook Air and Harvey was to return it. So Apple reckons a MacBook Air and an external LCD + XCode isn’t appropriate use? What?
A nifty iPhone game I found called Iso has been sucking up my time lately. It’s kinda like Tetris, but has pretty pixel graphics (I’m a pixel whore). Enjoy your lack of productivity. You’ll thank me later.
This isn’t news, but is a really nice overview of RAID on Mac OS X. Aimed at beginners too. Check it out if you’ve ever been interested, or heard about RAID, but not quite sure what it is, what it does and how to set it up on your Mac.
