Default Latest Canon 1D Mark IV rumour

50 anni di reflex, Canon festeggia con la 1D Mark IV | TechUP
La Canon 1D mark IV verrą presentata il prossimo 20 ottobre?
Canon, 1D mark IV il 20 ottobre?

Several Italian photography sites have noted that Canon Australia are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Canon Reflex Camera on Tuesday 20th October (two days time). They suggest that this may be the time that Canon might announce a new body....?

Only two days to find out

    Fingers crossed.

I think Nikon just had a similar anniversary but completely snubbed themselves!
As a Nikon user I'm looking forward to what the comp comes up with. Hope it's an excellent piece of gear! Bodes well for us all.

Edit - Hope they come up with a better name. Canon's naming conventions are dumb! There, I've said it...

Yes, I heard about it last week. I'm quietly confident that the 1D markIV will be announced tomorrow evening in Sydney. Full specs are under serious lock and key at the moment, but there are some rumors going around already. 1.3 crop sensor, 16MP, 12 fps etc. I did my best to get in, but got confirmation back this morning that I won't be able to go. Oh well, I tried..

    Yes, I'm very hopeful.

I've got my camera dealer programmed into speed-dial so I can make a quick order if it is announced

Wow.. so nothing really new and revolutionary etc...

If they can't get it to track focus correctly @ 10fps how do they get it to do it at 12?

This is pretty interesting news. Can't wait to see what it has when they release it. Also had to laugh about the invite with the darkened camera. I thought they only did that trick for cars!

Shame you couldn't make it in for the event SilverJ. Will probably be quite good. How do you get on the invite list of this kind of thing anyhow?

All the 1D series had the silhouette art on the box...been doing it for a while.

here's a leaked pic of the rear though

What if Spock changes his number? Would that be a firmware update or could you do it via the menu?

I think for now, what most Canon users will be hoping for is:

    a) An autofocus system that actually works
    b) Everything else is a bonus

Thanks for the details on this SilverJ.

Interesting some of you say autofocus is so bad.... I've been blaming myself for less focussed shots lately, but hearing that it's a bigger problem means now I can blame the tools!

    I wouldn't be so sure.

I've read about it a lot - the focus issues that is - but I have never had the trouble myself, either with my older Mark II N or other colleague's Mark III's.

And we all shoot in ski resorts for a living, as in; fast movement, low contrast and often with snow in the air (blizzard conditions too), or heavy fog.

I put it down to most shooters these days having *lots* of knowledge of the tech side of things but very little idea of how to hold a camera properly in various situations.

When pro photographers and reputable experts who receive pre-release versions to test go on to complain loudly then I would suggest it's a little more than people not being able to hold the camera correctly. Especially when said photographers go on to drop tens of thousands of dollars on Nikon gear as a result and subsequently comment on how happy they are...

I don't care what you suggest. I'll rely on my own experience, if it's all the same to you and the experts
