I've been searching high and low over the past year for a FireWire CF card reader at a reasonable price.
Finally found one on eBay (seller has quite a lot of new old stock) for Us $15. It's a Sandisk model SDR-80-783. Comes with a little case and fw 400 cable as well.
Does the job pretty well and I'd recommend it to those looking for a cheapish adapter.
I have to say though that it doesn't seem designed for someone who will be plugging 20 cards into it 7 days a week, but for amateurs such as myself its perfect.

I can't remember how much I paid for mine. I bought a lexar FW CF reader years ago. Maybe 4? I think it was around $130. $15 seems like a great bargain. I hope you are using 300x or faster cards with it...
I'm curious of the speed difference between a FW400, FW800 and one of those 3/4 umm thingies that are on the 15" macbook pros.
Not using 300x cards at the moment as there isn't a point with my Canon 20D. Still using my Sandisk cards from 2004, so not sure what speed they are as their not marked with any. Will treat myself to fast cards when I get a 5D2 or possibly (if the wife approves) the 5D3.
