Default [SYDNEY] Best parking/travel option for visiting Apple store from Airport?

I'll be in Sydney for a day (saturday) later in the month, on the way back from overseas. Being the NUT™ that I am, I'd like to check out a 'real' Apple store, one of those things we don't have in the deep south. (Adelaide)

So, whilst I could Airport shuttle in, this might limit any other sight seeing I'd be likely to enjoy, as will the smog.

Loose plan is a hire car ("It's a rental, don't be gentle!!") but is there any remotely affordable car parking anywhere near the main chunky Apple store? Distance / safety isn't a huge concern, ie I don't mind walking a few blocks as I'm not planning on lugging a pair of Mac Pros back to the car...

realistically, if you can afford the hire car for the day then you can afford the parking. sydney is actually ok for parking, if you drive around you will find a spot near enough to the store.

It's pretty easy just to catch the train from the airport, direct to Wynyard station and just walk a block or two to the Apple store

Or get off one stop before @ Town Hall - pop up through the Queen Victoria Building and head down the street from there - about the same time I would have thought!
The train ain't cheap. Because the domestic and international stations are part owned by the MacBank (no relation to Mr Jobs) they charge through the nose for even the shortest journey on the line ie about $14 one way. Cheaper than the hire car of course. Much cheaper than taxi.
There is also the possiblity that the train won't be running on the line. I say this cause it seems every weekend on my line the trains are totally dead. Half the network this long weekend we have no trains! Thank you state govt.

Or you could park at the Queen Victoria Building, that's just around the corner and you could pay the valet to park your car for you.

If you do drive, you can park on the street right behind the store usually, or just down at the QVB carpark.

Train it dude. The train from the Airport goes the long way around to Wynyard so you'll get to see Circular Quay on the way. Get a ticket to the City Circle and you can get on and off as often as you like (I think). As mentioned previously, it's expensive, but no where near as much as hiring a car and parking. You'll end up less stressed catching a train.

If your going on a weekend most parking stations charge a flat rate all day $15 or so.
If you don't mind a short walk (about 2 or 3 blocks) I usually park at the Picadilly car park, it's close to all the main shops too.

Train from the airport is going to cost around the same as parking in the city.

sydney and melbourne both have far better public transport than adelaide. Sydney in particular is great for trains and ferries.

Another vote for the train. Driving in Sydney... urgh. It'll cost you less than hiring a car for sure.

I'd take the train $14.60 from the domestic into the city. If you do purchase something, then you might want to catch a cab back to the airport for the piece of mind. If you have 2 or more people, then cab both ways would be about the same or cheaper.

Another vote for the train...apart from when the line's down due to trackwork, I find that the CityRail really isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
    Good. Fast. Cheap. Pick two...

If you just plan to see the sights in the CBD, a car will be a hassle and once you're in the CBD it's all walkable anyway. As others have said the train isn't cheap, but it's the best option if there's just one of you. A cab is about the same price as the train if there are two of you - more convenient but probably takes about the same amount of time.

However if you do want to drive, you can normally find parking on the street in the streets near the Apple Store but most are 2 hours. If you want longer then it's worth joining the Secure Parking club (free), as you can then log in and print out a voucher for $5 all day parking in their Kent Street car park. Secure Parking - Home

Catch the train to Town Hall (Queen Victoria Building), go up a level (or two? its been a while) and just walk down the street
It turns out if you get out at Wynard the walk is ever so slightly faster, but you have to sit on the train for another stop.

I bet it's cheaper than a taxi. In Melbourne the Skybus is $16 into the city, though that is also far cheaper (and more pleasant) than a Taxi.
