    The wrong one. I don't get why they have different regions. It just makes things harder (and more expensive) for the end user.

    Ask the MPAA why they split the world into 9 regions. It's all to do with movie premieres, piracy, and distribution.

    Seriously though, if we didnt have this region coding bullshit.. Piracy would most probably be cut back a hell of a lot. Companies are putting Region Coding on games now.. kinda sucks.

    I had to pirate the three LOTR movies before they would play in my Region-4 firmware locked MacBook Pro's DVD drive. That's just insane. It's a LAPTOP. My PC buddies are laughing at me because they can play region 3 discs but I have to get them to copy them before I can.

    I learnt how to bypass copy protection on DVDs and use BitTorrent because I couldn't easily play my own overseas purchased DVDs.

    I've since taught probably 30 people from students at my workplace to retired family friends.

    Well done movie industry.

    I assume you are wanting to view other regions DVD on your Mac?

    Here are a couple references

    <http://lowendmac.com/fishkin/af07/0907.html>

    which may help.

    Also look at this topic <MBP - Region Codes> in the Notebooks forum of this web site.

    If you are thinking of viewing other regions DVDs on your DVD Recorder machine there are several sites which give hacks. For a start see <DVD Hacks>

    Doesn't it show you a Map of the World, Australia in Blue, with the number 4 over it?
