I really enjoy the MacTalk podcast most days, but I didn't like this episode. The discussion at the beginning about Vine, the 128GB iPad and BB10 was great, but then you decided to just read out the news: there was no discussion, no talking about why things were important or why they made the news in the first place, just people reading off a script.

I listen to podcasts* because I like hearing people talk about things. If those things are the news, then so be it, but just reading out news items like you're ticking off items in your to-do list isn't the way to do it IMHO.

If you're going to bring those topics up, at least talk about them

    * actually, this is the only podcast I listen to.

    fair criticism.

For me, i don't want the Podcast to ever be longer than 45mins, so the show is divided into the 3 or 4 stories that i feel will generate the most discussion (such as vine and the 128gb ipad) which get the to be at the start of the show, and stories that just need a quick comment to summarise them. So even though there wasn't discussion - i think Alec mentioned the key points around the Gabe Newell thing, and James gave the Path story just enough snark, etc.

So as much as i'd love to chat about every story, i never want the podcast to overstay its welcome, and 45mins seems the best run time for a nerdy podcast..

There is always the option of 2X playback on all iDevices so 90min would work.
    Something about Jimby.

I think that might've been my fault a little bit.

Not to ruin the magic of Pete's amazing editing, but with it being my first podcast I was super nervous and flubbed the Gabe Newell thing a couple of times when we were recording so I re-recorded it separately after I'd gotten over my nerves. I think that broke the flow of that section a little bit and probably sounded the most like it was read off a script.

I also wasn't game to do impersonations of Pete, James and Josh to try and add some conversation to the re-recording

2x is usually a bit fast, I usually use 1.5x.

Sidenote - it will be funny if I ever meet any of my favourite podcasters in read life, I'll be thinking "Why are you talking so slow?" :P
