Don't know which Mac to buy? Got really simple, "Help I'm new to the Mac" related questions? Post them here. If you're buying a new Mac, please don't forget how we helped you and buy it from the Apple online store using this link to support this site.
Hi all. Im new to MacTalk. Enjoying reading what people have to say.
I found out that other day that the reason my June 2004 G5 PowerMac Dual 2GB died on me wasnt b/c the power supply was stuffed... it was b/c my logic board has died. Apple quoted me about 800 to replace the board. As much as i would love to, i cant justify spending that much money on a 5 year old machine, although it would be a shame to not fix it as the machine is still more than what i need.
so my question:
Does anybody have, or know where i can source a logic board for my machine on a budget? Do you have one lying around at home that we could discuss.
Any sugestions welcome.
Thanks,
Pishtols
Mine died recently too (Logic Board), so I feel your pain. I'm using it as a reason to get a new Mac and will put the remains of the G5 on Ebay at some stage.
Hope you find a solution that suits.
Cheers!

I know, i am considering this as a push to go to a Mac Pro. Although itis a shame as the G5 suits my needs so much... oh, decisions decisions.... (even more annoying as my apple care protection ran out only 6 months ago... :S )
Thanks for your reply.
Thanks Leon. I did give them a try today, but not open. will try again on monday. thanks though. hopefully they will be able to help.

I have purchased a Sawtooth MOBO from these people and have no complaints.
Give them a try. Price was reasonable. I think I paid about $25 plus postage.

Duh - just realized it has already been posted. Sorry 'bout that. Can only say, it was a good solution when others (eBay etc) were colossal prices.
