    Default Entourage error -17895

    Hello Aussie Mac Users!

I am an Aussie in NYC and am having to resort to Aussie smarts to get an answer to my question because I have been unable to find it here in the good ol' U S of A!

We have been unable to send emails all week using Entourage. No one in the office can send emails.

    We are all getting:

Error: Connection to the server failed or was dropped.

Explanation: The server is not responding.

    Error: -17895

I have been back and forwards with my Web hosting company all week and they have been unable to solve the problem, or say there isn't one!

I have spoken to Microsoft and Verizon (our ISP) and they believe the problem is with the Web hoster's mail server.

The web hosting company has replicated my login/password into Outlook Express and have been able to send emails. They do not have a Mac to test it out.

I set up my work email on Mac Mail at work and at home and also cannot send emails using that application.

I am at a total loss.

I hope someone out there may be able to help.

    S

Have you tried checking the port settings and whether one is configured to send using SSL?

I've often found simply switching this on or off or checking the ports can effect your ability to send and receive.

This is what it looks like in Mail but it should be the similar in entourage.

Yes, I have tried every combination of advanced settings. Just tried again with SSL and I first got:

"unable to establish a secure connection to {domain name] because the correct root certificate is not installed." And if I clicked OK it wouldn't be secure.

    So I said OK.

And then I got the -17895 error again.

Try setting up one of the accounts in Mail.app
If it doesn't work there either, the traffic is being stopped by a firewall, if it does work it's because Entourage is a massive pile of crap.
