KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more! will let you download the flv file, as well as the higher quality MP4 file, which wont need converting

iSquint will convert flv files for you.

GetTube works well and also converts to MP4.. Only disadvantage you have to download the movie again..

Otherwise Realplayer will download the movies for you and you have to convert them yourself

I highly reccomend the widget MyTube. Its a stylish widget that allows you to view YouTube videos from your dashboard, and if you donate two dollars or more you can download, and convert videos with just one click.

    I don't own a Mac, but seeing it's a web-based app, I don't think it matters?

Sometimes it does that for me too (it's still a beta). Just try refreshing the page or canceling and starting it again and eventually it will work. If not, try a different browser.

Hey Chief, I've used vixy.net many times on my mac. It works great but every now and then it stops while converting. I just start it again and it usually works.

I've been downloading flv files from youtube and elsewhere using keepvid.com and I just found this free flv->mp4 converter which seems to do the job just fine.

    I use ClickToFlash; ClickToFlash

It directly downloads the h.264 versions of the video. Much better quality than the flash versions.

It also has the added benefit of stopping Safari loading annoying flash ads when visiting sites.

Yes, ClickToFlash could not be more highly recommended to those of us who detest Flash. Its H.264 support is icing on the cake.

These men speak the truth. ClickToFlash is brilliant. I love how it forces H.264 on Youtube.
