Question Faulty fan plug on logic board

    Hi,

I have an iMac 27-inch late 2012 model, which has recently transpired its extended apple care protection plan.

I have an issue with the cooling system, and thought the problem was with the cooling fan itself.

However, the local authorised repairer has assessed the problem is a faulty fan plug on the logic board. Their solution was to purchase and install a replacement logic board.

My question is whether there is a simpler, lower-cost solution to fix the fan plug? I'm not convinced paying $1000+ to replace the logic board on an aging desktop is the best investment.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Fowler
